WHY ARE SOLAR ENERGY SYSTEMS INSTALLED IN FOREST VILLAGES?
In forest villages hot water is generally obtained by the wood ignited in ovens or stoves, and rarely by using bottled gas and electricity. These methods used for hot water in forest villages greatly damage natures and the family economy of forest villagers. A family consumes approximately 150 litres of hot water a day for bathing, washing clothes, washing dishes and general cleaning purposes. In order to heat this necessary water, approximately 8 steres of wood is consumed in ovens and stoves. 87 % of this energy obtained by wood goes out of the chimneys and only 13 % of this energy can be used to good value. The aim of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, Forest-Village Affairs General Directorate (ORKÖY) is to ensure that the aims of protecting, expanding and improving the forests are accomplished.

In addition to these, with the purpose of increasing the quality of living of the forest villagers, providing them with a more healthy living environment and extending the use of renewable energy resources which do not harm the nature, ORKÖY also evaluates and credits the Heating Water with Solar Energy Projects practiced in forest villages as Individual Projects with Social Purposes.

HOW DOES ORKÖY GIVE CREDIT TO FOREST VILLAGERS?

ORKÖY supports the Heating Water with Solar Energy Projects practiced in forest villages with “interest-free credit” in order to accomplish its aims determined in the Basis and Methods related to the Forest Villagers Development Services.

In order for the forest villagers to benefit from these services, the village they live in and the district it is affiliated with have to be within the Forest Villagers Development Plan, there has to be a project proposal of Solar Energy Application project with social purposes in their village, the village chief has to have applied to the Provincial Ministry of Environment and Forestry with a written application and the village has to be included in the ORKÖY Individual Credits Working Program of that yer.

The confirmation of the people who will apply the project will be determined by the officers of the Provincial Environment and Forestry Directorate and employees of ORKÖY, in accordance with the related Basis and Methods, General Instructions and Provisions.

After the approval of the Typical Project by ORKÖY General Directorate to be applied by the Provincial Directorate, they can purchase the solar energy system from whichever company they wish as long as the system has the requirements stated in the Technical Specifications prepared in accordance with the Project. After the preparation of Contract Deeds and Notary Loan Agreement, and the completion of the project application, the engineers in charge conduct the project control and the credit is deposited in the bank account of the related person. The credit has no interest rates. The credit amount is paid back in 3 (three) equal payments starting 1 year after the installation of the system.
